David qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1989 and completed his master’s degree in Human Factors (Ergonomics) in 2001. He is registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health and Care Professionals Council. David completed his junior physiotherapy rotations at Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Royal Hospital before taking up community-based posts first in North Derbyshire, Community Health Sheffield and finally at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He has held Board level and Clinical Executive positions in the NHS in Sheffield. David has research experience particularly working in the Department of Work and Pensions funded Job Retention and Rehabilitation Programme in Sheffield.
David has been working in the personal injury sector since the formation of Rehab Direct in 2012 and has undertaken needs assessments, clinical case management and expert medico-legal work. David is one of the few dual qualified physiotherapy and ergonomics professionals practicing in the UK. David’s clinical experience and expertise is in rehabilitation, management of long-term conditions, pain management and disability. He has a specialist interest in vocational and employment rehabilitation – supporting people back to work, sport or other activities.
David will design programmes to facilitate return to employment; this may involve task analysis, job re-design and adaptation of the environment linked to functional assessment of the individual. He also has extensive experience of major physical and neurological disability, working with disabled individuals, their care and therapy providers to deliver enabling, sustainable long-term care packages. David also applies these skills and expertise to support disabled people to stay in their own homes.
